Historic Regional Treatment Center

Blake's cub scouts had an opportunity to take a tour of the historic Regional Treatment Center here in our small town. To learn more about the history of the treatment center, look here

This was one of the first buildings that Roger and I saw when we first moved here three and a half years ago. We thought the building was beautiful and wanted to see what the inside of it looked like. I finally had my chance last night.
Unfortunately, a lot of the building is old and torn apart due to asbestos, demolitions at one time, and now it may be rebuilt into a campus, I am not sure. It still had some of the original woodwork and layout when it was first built in the 1800s. Here are some glimpses of what we saw there.

Underground tunnels that lead to different parts of the buildings.

Once was an apartment for the physician that worked there.
The first picture shows the building with the towers and this is where we are at. The spiraling staircase leads up to the top of the tower. Of course, all the boys wanted to go up there, but were not allowed.

View from the towers on the fourth floor.

The highlight of the boys tour....
bats, bats, and more bats!!

It still is a beautiful building.

We thought it was a cool building too. There is one very similar to it in Blackfoot. It had the cool tunnels running everywhere...they're haunted, of course. They had some of the less crazy residents help with the Halloween parties. They had one heck of a scary spook alley!

i've always wondered, what the building is like inside. but i've also always had a sick feeling about things that probably went on there . . .

the grand staircase is beautiful! and the dr's apartment looks like it was quite the place to live!

That is such a pretty building. It's a shame they haven't kept up the inside as well as the outside. It looks like a neat tour.
