A warm day in January...

Last Saturday the weather hit in the 70s so we decided to head outdoors!
My sister in law mentioned this great place to go hiking at Prince William Forest Park!
My kids were not very excited about the idea of hiking, but we knew as soon as we got there they would enjoy it!
Especially since we were able to hike along the creek....
crossing bridges, throwing rocks and sticks and enjoying some snacks along the way!
It was a beautiful day to go for a hike!

Ethan here wishing he brought his fishing pole.

Caleb wishing he could play in the water.

We decided to take the 1.5 mile loop around the park so that all the kids could walk it themselves.

However, some of us discovered a pyrite mine that looked super cool to check out that we took a mile detour to find it.  We didn't find it and we had to walk back.  At this moment, the whining and complaining started happening.
So we decided that if we cross the creek and took another path home they will be fine walking on their own. Roger above trying to convince the kids to jump across the rocks.  That didn't happen.  Luckily, we found another path of rocks that were easier to jump.
We were wet. We were tired after our 1.4 times three mile hike and we were ready to go home.
Oh no!  A park!! As soon as they saw the park, they all bolted running toward the park!
I thought they were tired and ready to go home??
They did let us know they all had fun hiking.  Caleb did an amazing job hiking the whole trail and we didn't have to pick him up at all.
We told the kids next time we will have a better hike since we know which way we are suppose to go.
They looked at us and said, "what do you mean next time?"
