Stem Fair Project.....
This year instead of a science fair, the elementary school required grades 3-5 to participate in a Stem Fair Project.
All the 3rd graders were given the same assignment.
Build a newspaper tower that can hold 4 DVDS for 30 seconds using only the following;
6 newspapers
masking tape
styrofoam plate
4 DVDs.
First off, Caleb hated the tape. He said it would not stay on the newspaper.
He then decided to roll up the all six of the newspaper into one tower to see if it could hold one DVD.....failed.
Then he decided to make 3 two newspaper rolls to create one tower.
and then he discovered it wouldn't hold the DVDs unless he spread the top too.
He was able to get three DVDS to stay, but not the fourth one.....
he realized he could balance the DVDs with each other!!
The 30 second countdown began....
Obviously, his facial expressions showed that he did accomplish his task.
It was amazing to see him figure out the problem with the items he had to work with.
He enjoyed working on the experiment, not so much the writing afterwards!
At least, he got an A for his project!
