Acute Otitis Media...
...A fancy way of saying, middle ear infection and Blake has it bad!!! After three days of no sleeping, constant ear pain, and laying low, we finally took him in to see the doctor. She took one look in his ear and said that it was blocked so bad, that she couldn't see his eardrum. Gross!
They had to flush his ears out with fluids and still couldn't get all of it out. Poor Blake, was getting paler and paler by the minute. They finally sent us home with a prescription for amoxicillan and ear drops. We figured the worst part was over. Boy, was I wrong.
Since Blake hasn't mastered swallowing pills, we had to get a liquid form of the medicine. Which means he will actually have to drink it and it does NOT taste good. Put that together with the pickiest of pickiest eaters and you have a recipe for disaster.
Last night, he spent two hours telling me he was not going to take that medicine. We used bribes, threats, gentle persuasions.....nothing worked. He said that he would rather die than drink that medicine which in turned brought Caleb to tears since he didn't want his brother to die!! Yep, we were getting nowhere.
After comforting Caleb that his brother was in fact going to live, I headed to the Internet. They have pretty gross pictures of what an infection looks like in an ear. It was enough to get Blake to take his medicine. Score!!!
Today went much better, but he is counting down the days when he can finish his medicine!! Only 16 more times to go!!! We are going to have so much fun the next eight days!!!
