Brace yourself...
Today I took Ethan to his first ortho appt.
They put spacers in between his teeth getting them ready to put a Herbst appliance in his mouth.
What is a Herbst appliance?
It's a mouthpiece they cement to his teeth to help with his overbite. Basically, it slows the upper jaw from growing and helps the lower jaw to catch up.
He will be wearing this for 15 months and then braces afterwards.
His other option is to wait till he is 19 years old and have them break his jaw and realign it correctly.
I think we will go with option 1.
This visit is the first of many, many, many more to come.
They sent me the bill to let me know how much it will cost to fix Ethan's teeth.
