Deep Portage

Ethan went to his three day sixth grade school field trip last week and had a wonderful time and experience.
He went to a place called Deep Portage. Deep Portage is a 501 non-profit residential environmental education/outdoor recreation center. There are hiking trails to enjoy, an interpretive center to explore, and educational programs.
All my son cared about was being outside for school for a change. He loved it!
The group of sixth graders that went on the field trip. It was chaperoned very well, and the students kept themselves busy with school work, chores, and exploring the unknown.
He also had to test his strength and conquer his fear of heights with rock climbing. He succeeded in accomplishing both!
The area surrounding the center. It was cold and rainy, but at least it didn't snow....until the last day and they had to leave early.
getting ready to canoe on the lake...in their winter coats!
The classroom where they studied about the environment.
hmmmm...I wonder why he has so many pictures of fish? :)
Ethan on one of his hikes.

He had a great time. He enjoyed the experience, made some friends, and couldn't wait to come home to his momma and share all this new found knowledge of the environment!

I remember the 6th grade trip when I was a kid and what a fun adventure it was. They don't do those here, so my kids have missed out! It looks like Ethan had a great time!

Ethan took those pictures? Great job. If nature he likes, he may find employment and enjoyment in photographing it.
Be proud, Ethan. You have a gift.
